At Love and Wick Studio, we use the fragrance wheel as a guide to understand how scents relate to one another and to help us offer beautifully balanced fragrance compositions.
The fragrance wheel groups scents into fragrance families, based on their character, ingredients and aromatic qualities. Each family has its own personality, and many fragrances sit between two or more families, creating a unique blend of scent characteristics.
Think of it as a map of the fragrance world, helping you discover what you love.
Fragrance doesn't always fit into one box
One of the most beautiful things about fragrance is that it isn't always straightforward.
A fragrance can belong to one primary family while sharing characteristics with another. A floral fragrance might have a fresh citrus opening, while a woody fragrance might contain warm amber and sweet vanilla. This is why fragrances are often described using more than one family.
What are Love Notes?
A fragrance is built from individual notes, we call them Love Notes, these come together to create its overall personality.
Top notes are the first impression, bright, fresh and immediately noticeable.
Heart notes emerge as the fragrance develops, revealing its main character.
Base notes provide depth and longevity, lingering in the background and giving the fragrance its warmth and richness.
Together, these layers create a complete fragrance experience. We love exploring the relationship between these notes and fragrance families to create scents that don't simply smell beautiful, they create a feeling.
